Welcome to DPMMS 

The Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics (DPMMS) (including the Statistical Laboratory as a sub-department) conducts teaching and research across a wide range of pure mathematics, probability and statistics.   DPMMS currently hosts over 100 Academic and Research Staff and around 80 PhD students over three Pavilions as part of the Centre for Mathematical Sciences.

Professor John Coates (1945-2022)

We are sad to learn of the death of John Coates FRS, Sadleirian Professor 1986-2012. John was a distinguished number theorist and a dynamic Head of DPMMS 1991-97.
