Seminars:
The Department runs excellent seminar series and the efforts of the organisers are much appreciated. However, we do have to work within a budget provided specifically by the University for teaching purposes. Not only is there a need to comply with the University’s financial regulations for the use of the funds but we should also maximise the number of speakers we can invite.
For Organisers and those hosting speakers please see General Guide for Department Seminar Organisers
For seminar teas, there are supplies of tea/coffee and biscuits in cupboards in each of the Pavilions Common rooms. Keys for the cupboards should be collected (and returned) to the main Reception desk. Supplies are topped up regularly but Jayne can provide more if required.
Hosts should particularly take note what the seminar budget can cover. Claims over and above these limits could be rejected. Full details can be found here Guidelines (Financial Matters) for Departmental Seminar Organisers.
Guidelines will be circulated to the whole Department at the beginning of term to refresh memories and inform any new staff or students who will be hosting seminars.
