I will present a construction of a free action of the weight zero Hopf algebra on the full compactly supported cohomology of the moduli of principally polarized abelian varieties, building on recent work with Brown, Chan, and Galatius. The action arises geometrically from a symplectic analog of the Waldhausen S-construction. This is based on joint work with Urshita Pal.
