Andrew C. Aitchison
Computer Officer, Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, Cambridge University
I did my PhD in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Aberdeen, under Ian Craw
A spell working on Cartoon Animation at Bath University was followed by 3 years in Harlequin's Electronic Publishing Division at their Manchester office, writing and calibrating PostScript drivers and colour management software for a wide variety of computer printers.
I enjoy hill walking and skiing, which I don't expect to be able to pursue in Cambridge, and outdoor ice-skating, about which I would be glad to hear.
I'm a developer of the XFree86 driver (for Linux and other operating systems).
I have a latent interest in genealogy, and some work on the Aitchison and Biggam families reaching back to the mid 18th century, which I would like to put online.
