Practical Information

Accommodation

The accommodation arranged is all a short walk from the Isaac Newton Institute: see the map (or this one) for exact locations. For orientation, there are other maps of Cambridge here.

At Fitzwilliam the rooms are in Gatehouse Court; at New Hall they are in Buckingham House. To get from either to the Newton Institute, leave the college by Storey's Way, walk South and cross the main road (Madingley Rd): there is a footpath at the pedestrian crossing which leads directly to the Institute.

Wolfson Court (an annexe of Girton College) is next door to the Newton Institute on Clarkson Rd.

You should collect the key for your accommodation from the college (if arriving on Thursday morning, you can do this at lunchtime).

Transport

See the University's Getting to Cambridge page for general travel information.

From the train or bus station, it is simplest to take a taxi.

There are bus links from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted airports. These are not always punctual and you may prefer to go by train instead (direct trains from Stansted; via London Kings Cross from Gatwick or Heathrow).

A taxi from Luton or Stansted is about £50-60, or cheaper if booked in advance (try Airport Lynx who will collect from all London airports).

Computing

For a conference of this short duration it is not practical to arrange accounts for computer access. In particular there are no computer facilities for the use of participants at the Newton Institute.

If you really need computer access while you are here, talk to me or someone at the registration desk when you arrive.
