Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics

The Department is looking for a part-time administrator to provide temporary cover during the maternity leave of the coordinator for the Cambridge Mathematics Placements (CMP) programme. The CMP programme supports students studying for an undergraduate/Master's (Part III) degree in Mathematics to find summer research placements in industry or in the other University Departments. This administrative position supports the Director of the CMP programme to oversee the ongoing operation and development of the scheme and the CMP Industrial Supporters Club. The Supporters Club comprises a group of industrial partners and companies, ranging from the very small to the large, which actively support the placement scheme.

Duties of this post will include responding to queries; organising events which bring together participants, hosts and supporters; producing promotion material; collecting and reviewing feedback on the programme; and supporting the management of bursary applications and awards. The role involves working closely with others in the Department's administration team. The successful candidate will have practical experience in an administrative role. They should also have excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office) and project management skills, and will be able to communicate with a wide range of people within and outside the University, including Alumni.

Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier. The Grade 5 post is on a part-time basis (11 hours per week, 0.3FTE), with working days to be decided by mutual agreement.

Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University. Applicants wishing to apply for a secondment should indicate this in their application and discuss it with their line manager before applying. There is a related 0.5FTE Grade 4 position being offered simultaneously which may be of interest in combination with this role (please see LF21373).
