Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics

Applications are invited to provide temporary cover for maternity leave of the part-time project administrator (0.5 FTE), to support the management of the Department's European Research Council (ERC) grants. The post holder will report to the Department's Finance and Research Administrator and will also liaise directly with the project Principal Investigators. Primarily, the role supports the delivery of the MAFRAN grant (Mathematical Frontiers in the Analysis of Many-particle Systems) alongside a number of other ERC grants held in the Department.

The post holder will be responsible for the administration required by the ERC (e.g. timesheets for all staff on the grant) as well as a wide variety of grant activities, for example assisting with recruitment and collaboration visits, maintaining websites, monitoring publications and organising conferences/workshops. The post holder will be expected to work closely with others in the Department's administration team as well as with the staff and students working on the grants.

The successful candidate should be educated to at least A level standard or equivalent standard/NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of practical experience, as well as having experience working in an administrative role. They should have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills together with excellent IT skills to include familiarity with spreadsheets and web-editing software.

Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier. The Grade 4 post is on a part-time basis (0.5FTE), with working days to be decided by mutual agreement.
