Scanners in DPMMS

Bulk scanner

The colour photocopier/printer phaistos in E1.14 and both photocopier/printers in C1.17 are also colour scanners (yes the black and white copier can scan in colour). As these have document feeders and can scan both sides of pages, they are convenient for longer documents.

Don't forget that anyone in DPMMS (and perhaps the whole of maths) can use a web-browser to see any scans saved on the photocopiers.

The copiers in C1.17 are new (November 2011). Scan to email works but this needs to be properly documented.

Note

Note that images can take up a lot of disk space. Please tidy up unwanted images, and do not store dozens of images inside your home directory tree. Other disk space is available, please ask me if you wish to store a collection of appropriate images.

If you need to keep scans in your home space, but don't need them backed up, put them inside a directory called NOBACKUP.

Don't forget that images can be written to CD or USB memory stick: see our Using memory sticks, CDs and other removable disks on DPMMS Linux machines page.

Manuals

Probably only of interest to computer officers.
